Finding fresh produce in any hunger relief program is highly seasonal and, in fact, very limited in the winter months. Any donated produce which can be found is, typically, one or two days away from spoiling, preventing people less fortunate from any real opportunity to have healthy, fresh produce in their diets.
With our vacu-seal operations, we can now provide the homeless and low-income community with the year-round availability of healthy, nutritious produce.
Our two vacu-seal systems were acquired from the Kroger Corp. at a deep discount and allow us to package flash frozen veggies in three and five pound bags. We purchase totes of the veggies in bulk at a discount (we could really use your help here!) and then have our vocational program employees prepare the veggies for distribution or storage.
